I think the thing about aquas is that a lot of times they have a gray cast. I like this in a lot of stones but it can make them look sandy. They are beryl, so not that hard anyhow. I think tourms come in much brighter colors without being electric like london topaz! That being said, there have been a few particularly fine Jeff White Aquas cut in an Asscher posted on PS. They are TDF. I have nothing to share on Amethyst as I don't wear purple.

BTW, for anyone reading, I am selling my copper bearing tourmaline because I found a more greenish one that I like more! http://s1233.beta.photobucket.com/user/k...E.mp4.html

Turks is right about aquas sometimes being dull. I'm lucky to have a gorgeous, lively, very blue one. There's a (bad) pic in my thread about the zircon and diamond necklace but I'll take you a better one if you'd like.

However, I don't have any great tips on where to get one

I'm I'm not really into amethyst but I love my ametrine - I'll also take a pic of that for you later .

Grey sounds striking though! I also like more muted and subtle stones...sometimes, lol.
