Blue Diamond/Sapphire/Etc.
Hi Ladies!

One of my besties may be getting engaged this year and she asked me to help her start looking at rings.

She is very unique and wants a blue stone. She had wanted a blue diamond but didn't realize how expensive they are. I think realistically they can afford quite a bit but not a blue diamond (at least not the ones I am finding- exhibit a- http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds...sku-168628)

She wants a topazy or aquamarine blue color (so lighter blue) and 1-1.5 ct ish. She also wants a square shape of some sort so either a princess cut or radiant cut.

She is totally willing to look at sapphires or another gemstone if she can't find a reasonable blue diamond.

Any suggestions on places I should start to look?

Holy geez! Your BF would have to be a gazillionaire to buy that! There is a great thread on Pricescope listing respected coloured stone vendors.

I would start with the precision cutters, they will have some beautiful sapphires. Some of the other TFL sistas will be able to provide more comments, but Jerry from Gemart Services and Daniel Stair from CustomGemstones have the most lovely stones and they are really, really nice to work with

What about lab created blue diamond?? They will be similar to normal diamond costs. There are a few shades available and most are H&A cut.

Sapphires are pretty, but I diamond would be much more sparkly. Aquamarine or topaz is not great for an ering, imo. Tell her to email or call Beth! Wink

What about blue moissy? Not sure it comes that light though..
We all know what I'm going to suggest, a purty blue spinel Big Grin it's sparkly, hard enough for rings, nice cost!
In colored gems I'm a huge fan of cut patterns, so fun to play with. I was actually just going to look around for a lab sapphire in an asscher cut!
