Do OECs face up smaller?
I have read opinions online that OECs can face up smaller than cuts such as round brilliant. Have you all found that to be the case?

Yes the OEC visually looks smaller to me compared to a RB even if it faces up the same dimension.

That's interesting. Do you have an idea why that is? I need to look into this more.

RE: Do OECs face up smaller?
It is said because the size of the table is smaller on an OEC than a MRB.

But they are so delicious. Yummy. I also think it depends heavily on the setting you chose how large or small a stone appears.

The answer seems to be yes in both cases, but are you talking 6mm vs. 6mm or 1 carat vs. 1 carat?

One day, I'll be a crazy old lady weighed down by all my baubles and it will be glorious.

If this is the case, then the smaller table gives the illusion of a smaller stone even when the mm measurements are the same?

If you're talking about a ring do you mean higher set vs lower set? Prong-set vs bezel?

I was talking about the 6mm vs. 6mm case because that interests me more. The 1 carat vs. 1 carat occurs because of the taller crown I think.

RE: Do OECs face up smaller?
yes, the stone has more vertical height in the OEC so it generally has a smaller diameter carat for carat.

This makes sense. I'm more interested in stones of the same diameter because I read that a few people found this to be the case.
