JAR at Met Museum
If any of you are visiting NY for the holidays or live around here, I strongly recommend you visit the Jewels by JAR exhibit at the met. It was UNBELIEVABLE.

Turks, did you buy anything out of the case? Haha! You know you deserve it.

Sharp mind, soft belly.

RE: JAR at Met Museum
Oh man, it was awesome! There were like 30 different 10ct+ diamonds. Multiple that looked to be 20ct+ all antique cuts - my dream! My friends had to suffer through my describing every stone (this is spessartite garnet, MOH...balbalba) in every single piece (over 300!!)

I thought about buying the book, but the internet exists....so I'll save the space.

RE: JAR at Met Museum
Indeed they were - there were two guards patrolling the gallery, and unlike the usual guards, they were actually *patrolling* to be sure no-one was shooting an iPhone video. I went last week, and it was a grand treat - there are pieces there I've never seen before, anywhere, mostly from his more naturalistic/experimental phase, like a watch encased in a smooth globe of amber ... just *gorgeous.* They *are* selling some pieces he designed just for the exhibition, btw, though I found them to be kind of disappointing: very modern, like, titanium and lucite in smooth organic shapes. They'll probably appreciate - seeing the 10x value leap for the rose petal earrings he did when his perfume boutiques opened up, I'm ticked at myself for talking myself out of them, back in the day! - but Not My Cup of Tea. The books, on the other hand - ah, WANT!
