My Christmas Project
So, I'm planning out my Christmas project, and need some help Smile

I want to recreate this:
Sparkly eye candy found at thefacetlounge.com!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/105440092/18...h_type=all

BUT with a much thinner halo (and maybe a bezel around the halo?), and possibly with morganite. I want it to look a little more delicate than the inspiration picture

I don't have any first hand experience with morganite...what are your thoughts?
I'm going to have to order a bunch of pear CZs from ChrisUK and play with proportions, but do any of you lovely ladies wanna take a stab at guessing the proportion of pears I should look at?

I have no advice. But that ring is gorrrrrgeous! I think it'll be stunning with morganite.

I love that ring! It's been in my watchlist on eBay. I would take a wild guess and say maybe 5x3 stones??

RE: My Christmas Project
I agree on the morganite Smile

Here is what they have listed:
Diamond: 52 Round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.41 carats, VS1-VS2 clarity, F-G color
Sapphire: 5 pear cut Royal blue Ceylon sapphire (VS), 1.42 carats (Natural earth-mined)

That's about .28ct each if I did that math correctly.

Looks like the center pear is slightly larger than the others, too, but only very slightly. Or it could just be the perspective of the shot.

RE: My Christmas Project
I was thinking they were graduated in size but you're right, it might just be the perspective shot...
I'm excited to start the project! Big Grin

That ring is gorgeous!! If it were me, and I was going to spend that much money as a setting, I would use spinels instead of morganites. In addition to being a soft stone, they don't have the sparkle that spinels do. AJS and Multicolour often have small pear sets, and because you aren't looking for huge stones/top color in spinel, I think it could still be affordable.

Turks, thank you! I know next to nothing about colored stones, so I appreciate any advice!

RE: My Christmas Project
I know Jenn and Schubachs have also had some good luck getting really softly colored pink sapphires. Since you are looking for such an unsaturated color - depending on your budget, this also might be attainable.
