Unhappy shopping expedition.
So, I went to a high end jeweller in my city, with a request to see pear diamonds/ pear diamond rings over a carat.

I was quite disgusted to be looked up and down and then be told "You don't want a pear diamond. They are ugly and old fashioned, and you will be bored with it in no time."

Ahem????!!? So, obviously I left without seeing any stones. No way someone is going to insult my taste, presume to know better than me and still get my money. No way! Nyanya

Anyone else experienced this type of arrogance? Confused

I get distracted by shiny things

Rude. And they don't know sh*t. Pears are beautiful and if I do say so myself, up and coming as "in" again... But I don't believe they were ever out.

What a bunch of a-holes!

One day, I'll be a crazy old lady weighed down by all my baubles and it will be glorious.

Wow - I'm pretty sure I would have left the store AFTER I made that sales person cry.

I just spent yesterday walking down madison avenue going to tons of fancy stores and saw LOTS of pears. So she is WRONG.

regardless. A SA should never talk to a customer that way!

Too bad they didn't have what they you wanted, as I'm sure another place will trip over themselves to make you feel like a queen when picking out a gorgeous pear. I'm a huge fan of pears, and while they aren't terribly common, they are beautiful and everyone notices them. Smile

RE: Unhappy shopping expedition.
That SA was rude and should not presume. You are not the only one with a questionable experience this week at a jewelry store. I took my new 3 stone to have it sized at Clarks. They set my Amoras from BMV into the fleur settings. Well I guess the SA thinks that I don't own anything but moissy because he says "you sure like jewelry don't you?" Then looks at my new leaf set and says "Is that moissanite? I can tell because of its double refraction, its so sparkly" I never did answer him. He is a nice person and a bit young (late 20's). Still he should know better than to ask that I think.
