Which setting do you like better?
I got busy and sidetracked from my garnet project, but now my life is settling down again (and I got a new job + raise, woohoo!) so I am starting to think about it again.

I want a very simple, stock setting as this is supposed to be a little project. I was looking at these two, shown with cushions at MoissyCo. Do you think they would work with my garnet? (Pic below.) Which do you like better? Either one I'd want claw prongs.

Cathedral.

OR

Non-Cathedral.

I'd like this setting too, if I could order it with a thicker shank/higher carat.

I think non-cathedral. Not sure why...but I think it would look very nice. I don't know about the stock settings, though, so I cannot say if it will work or not. Hopefully someone, in the know, will chime in.

I like the first one. But how big is your garnet? You would need to make sure that setting can hold that size... it looks big.

Yes, it is big. I think it is 9x11? Can't quite remember but it is 4.5 carats.

RE: Which setting do you like better?
Probably not... I'd probably have to sit down and do some thinking, I can always make things more elaborate and exacting in my head. ; ) Right now all I know is that I want a pave band with minimal metal showing, and claw prongs, and a flowing, minimal, classic design. But I do want to keep costs low so I'm okay with a little compromise on this project, unlike an e-ring or a bigger project.

I wonder if Poppy could put pave on her incredible solitaire - it sounds like that is the basket you want.

Googled it to remind myself what it looked like. This one (iwannasparkletoo's Rosie) is basically right if she could add pave. http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/...Post766725
