fun!! It is pressurized platinum and Joe said it is so cool, as it already feels super smooth. Excited!

Sparkly eye candy found at thefacetlounge.com!

RE: rough casting
Very cool! How much longer until it's done?

One day, I'll be a crazy old lady weighed down by all my baubles and it will be glorious.

Oooohlala! Very nice! Heart

Can you elaborate a bit on how pressurized platinum differs from a regular platinum setting?

RE: rough casting
Yes, this of for my 3 stone OEC moissy project. Smile There are 8 tiny prongs on each faux bezel. There is a lot of engraving and milgrain to do, and some melee to set, so I suspect 3 weeks maybe...

Pressurized platinum is taking a regular cast ring and then processing it with high pressure to eliminate any porosity that inevitibly forms though casting. The result is a much denser metal, which in turn, makes it more durable. It is slightly more expensive but still way less than hand forged. The smoothness prior to polishing is an extra bonus.

Awesome! Cannot wait to see your new pretty! Is gold also pressurized when cast? I had never heard of that process before reading about it on here.

RE: rough casting
I have not heard of anyone pressurizing gold. I think just platinum and palladium can be done. I know BTD offers it on their own designs as well, but I don't know what other vendors offer it. I think it is kinda new technology.
